This year’s “Bike to Work” Challenge, organized by the Roche Employees’ Association (AVR) in collaboration with the Site Mobility Team, was a resounding success. In May and June, more employees than ever before got on their bikes, impressively demonstrating how much we can achieve together for our health and the environment.
Sunshine instead of rain, record numbers instead of mere participation: The 2025 Bike to Work Challenge will go down as one of the most successful in its history. An incredible 1,166 participants pedaled their way through the challenge – a new record that underscores the growing enthusiasm for cycling to the workplace.
The numbers speak for themselves: together, the Roche community covered an impressive distance of 410,122 kilometers. That’s more than ten times around the Earth! Even more important is the positive impact on our environment: this effort resulted in a saving of 59,058 kg of CO₂.
The performance of the top teams, who led the pack based on the total number of cycling days, deserves special recognition. A huge congratulations goes to:
- 1st Place: Cortex Cruisers – with a grand total of 150 days (981 km)
- 2nd Place: Crankees – with a strong 140 days (1,767 km)
- 3rd Place: Fast and Fearless – with an impressive 138 days (2,621 km)
These teams have shown what is possible with team spirit and perseverance – simply fantastic!
What would a challenge be without its prizes? The highlight of this year’s raffle was a high-quality e-bike, generously sponsored by the company Mway. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the lucky winner and wish her all the best on her rides! An equally big congratulations goes to all the lucky winners who secured one of the numerous individual and team prizes.
The traditional barbecue party, serving as a grand finale, was held in the most beautiful weather at Tavero in Kaiseraugst. The dedicated catering team went all out to treat the numerous bikers to a culinary delight and ensured a cozy atmosphere where everyone could relax and enjoy the evening.
