On Thursday, 9 November, Roche was part of the National Future Career Day in Switzerland. More than 600 children from Roche employees have registered for the day to accompany their parents to work in Basel and Kaiseraugst.
The annual National Future Career Day is an initiative by the gender equality commissions of Switzerland. Girls and boys who are currently in 5th- 7th grade are changing sides for a day, so that they get to know atypical fields of work and experiences. The children are encouraged and confident to see their future away from gender stereotypes. The National Future Career Day promotes equality between women and men in the choice of profession and life planning at an early stage. It is a cooperation project between school, workplace and the family.
This year, the business areas in Basel and Kaiseraugst put together an extensive event program. The Future Career Day is not only a way to open our doors to our young talents, but also provides an inspiring insight into what makes us a great company. From lively workshops to fascinating presentations, our young guests were given insights into the different aspects of our daily work and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) topics. Curiosity, interested faces and lots of fun were felt all day long on the site. The various activities allowed the children to explore the fascinating variety of professional opportunities in a playful way. The positive energy during the day also reminds us of the importance of creating an environment in which we can feel comfortable not only as employees but also as family members.
We would like to thank all those who have made this day a great event: the parents who brought their children, the organizers who prepared workshops and activities together and across all departments, and of course the colleagues who have enthusiastically designed the day for our young guests. The next Future Day will take take place on 7 November 2024. Here are some impressions (only in german)
