This year’s “Bike to Work” Challenge, jointly organized by the Roche Employees’ Association (AVR) and the Site Mobility Team, was a resounding success. Throughout May and June, more employees than ever before jumped into the saddle, impressively demonstrating how much can be achieved together for both health and the environment.
Record-Breaking in All Weathers
Whether it was rain, sunshine, or sweat-inducing temperatures, the 2026 Challenge will go down in history as one of our most successful yet. An incredible 1,208 participants pedaled with pure motivation—setting a brand-new record!
The numbers speak for themselves for the Roche community:
- 422,663 kilometers were covered in total (more than 10 times around the Earth!).
- 60,863 kg of CO₂ were saved thanks to this tireless commitment.
The Frontrunners on the Podium
The performance of the top teams, who led the pack in terms of total cycling days collected, was particularly impressive. Huge congratulations go to:
- 🥇 1st Place: PLANIos – with a magnificent 150 days (1,826.35 km)
- 🥈 2nd Place: KauBlitz + BS Spitzel – with a strong 138 days (2,896.9 km)
- 🥉 3rd Place: Blaulicht BAS/KAU – with an impressive 136 days (1,566 km)
Team spirit and perseverance at their finest—simply amazing!
Grand Prize and Party Mood
The absolute highlight of this year’s raffle was a high-quality e-bike, generously sponsored by Mway. We would like to send our warmest congratulations to the lucky winner and wish them a safe and wonderful ride always! Equally big congratulations go to all the lucky winners who snapped up one of the numerous individual and team prizes.
The crowning glory was celebrated in style: the traditional BBQ party took place in beautiful weather at Tavero in Basel. The dedicated catering team pulled out all the stops to treat the many cyclists to culinary delights and ensured a fantastic, relaxed atmosphere.
